It is based on a square plan with four rooms on the ground floor and four on the first floor, all decorated in mannerist frescoes with scenes from mythology and ancient history, putti, grotesques and vignettes. For its beauty Villa Emo Capodilista was chosen many times as testimonial of very important brands and for films like “The Merchant of Venice” with Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons.
Nearby, in the centre of a castle also owned by the Emo Capodilista family, stands an imposing tower surrounded by an unusual semi-fortified rural court. Inside the Medieval Court there is a farm tourist centre and a collection of rural tools, bearing witness to the laborious toil on which today's farming was founded. This monumental and organic complex, enriched with a 16th-century chapel, neighbours the attractive 27-hole Golf Club La Montecchia with the renowned Restaurant La Montecchia. The latter is run by the Alajmo’s family in the Club House hosted in the ancient tobacco factory, and has recently achieved the prestige of a Michelin star.
The estate can also host conferences, weddings, business meetings and receptions. In the farm tourist centre visitors can taste and buy farm products and the D.O.C. wines awarded in 2009 with the Tre Bicchieri award of Gambero Rosso - Slow Food and often mentioned by the wine expert Robert Parker Jr. In the Medieval complex 4 apartments are available, restored and decorated to a high quality standard and fully equipped with all comforts.
At the foot of the Euganean Hills Regional Park, some 40kms from Venice, 30kms from Vicenza and 10kms from Padua you will find La Montecchia, the famous vineyard of the Counts Emo Capodilista. On top of the hill stands the Villa Emo Capodilista, a masterpiece of Italian architecture and one of the most original amongst the Venetian Villas. Since the day it was built, it has always belonged to the same family and today it is available for exclusive vacations for those who appreciate art, history and the enjoyable Italian ‘Buon Vivere’. Originally a hunting lodge built in 1568, the Villa was the brainchild of Dario Varotari, painter and architect, pupil of Veronese.
