PALAZZO VERITÀ POETA
Meeting & Wedding
The Verità Poeta Palace stands in the middle of Verona, in the neighbourhood of the Arena and Castelvecchio The name of the palace derives from the noble family Verità Poeta that had been always present in Verona: according to a Reinassance legend, even the origin and the name of the town were due to the arrival of the family coming from the Etruria..
Some of the best Italian artists of the time contributed to the construction and decoration of the palace towards the middle of the 18th century. The most famous is Antonio Galli from Bibiena (1697-1774), first Imperial Architect working at the Court in Vienna and author of theatres in all Europe, was presumably asked to design the whole palace and certainly to decorate the larger hall, and he was charged with the supervision of the works. Other artists worth being mentioned are Filippo Maccari (1725-1800), Francesco Lorenzi (1723-1787) and Lorenzo Pavia (1741-1764), whose portraits hang over the doors of the larger hall. Pavia’s presence among the executors of the frescoes in the hall makes it possible to date with precision when the construction of the palace was finished. Lorenzi, Tiepolo’s favourite follower, was asked to animate the hall by painting characters of the Carnival. The halls on the noble floor are adorned with frescoes and antique pieces of furniture. From the balcony, which runs along the whole inner façade, the silent garden can be admired: it is like a green oasis in the middle of Verona extending for over 1000sq. metres. The palace can be used to arrange exclusive events, wonderful wedding parties and comfortable business meetings thanks to its central position. Guided visits are possible by booking.
