Rizzi-Albarea Villa is the most ancient Venetian Villa in the "Riviera del Brenta" area, in a strategic position between two beautiful art cities: Venice and Padua, but also near other wonderful cities: Treviso, Vicenza, Verona and at only 2 kms from the Dolo highway exit, along the Milan-Venice highway. Millenary oasis of peace and very charming, Albarea Villa is in the middle of the green nature and it is surrounded by two hectares of park. The garden is a romantic apotheosis of climbing roses, old aged trees, ancient statues of wood divinities, birds of many kinds, herons, swans and ducklings that glide into the water of a gorgeous lake with a small island, bridges and a little panoramic tower. And all around there are flower beds, gazebo, wisteria, roses, jasmines and a beautiful swimming pool.

From before 1100 AD until the end of 1700 AD it has in fact been first a church, and then a monastery of the holy order of Saint Biagio and Cataldo from Venice, founded by the first abbess: the blessed Giuliana from Collalto, who repaired it at the middle of the 1200s. Albarea monastery was the inland headquarter of the Monastery of Venice that was built on the water, on the island of Giudecca. After the closing of the convents because of a law of Napoleon, on the foundations of the Giudecca convent of Venice the well known "Molino Stucky" was built; instead the Albarea Convent, nevertheless conserving its original structure, has become a private Villa and then the summer residence of the Rizzi family: generation of business men, engineers and doctors, up to the present owner, the physician Pierluigi Rizzi, who has been living here since the late sixties and has gone on restoring it in accordance with the "Sovraintendenza alle Belle Arti of Venice" and the "Ville Venete Institute". He is helped by his aristocratic wife, Aida, psychologist and musician, that in these years

Today Rizzi-Albarea Villa conserves a Church, up to the year 1100, that presents style superposition and repairs that have been made across the centuries by the abbesses, because of the many fires and collapses that have occurred in about 1000 years of history. The abbesses belonged to the most important noble families of Venice. Cultured and rich, these abbesses use to invite the most famous painters of their time to work and restore. The present ceiling, attributed to Tiepolo's School, is in fact the last repairing done by the nuns in 1722. On the front of the Church, you can still see, because they have been restored, the two unique stone sections that have survived, and on which are carved the dates of the two restoring and the names of the Abbesses (1350 and 1722). The "Via Crucis" has a painting attributed to Tintoretto's School, and then the paddle and the altar, with the polycrome marbles of the XIVth century, and a very beautiful and ancient wooden statue of Mary and baby Jesus: "La Vergine del Rosario", to whom in the Middle of Ages was dedicated a Church (then called "Santa Maria di Albarea") and to whose feet the young and future brides used to go and pray in those times, to obtain special benedictions, and giving their rosaries after receiving the grace. Some of these rosaries are still conserved. Every year in May, the Rizzi repeat the ancient tradition of the procession, with Masses and Rosaries dedicated to the Virgin, whose statue has recently been repaired. has looked after the works and restores, that organizes cultural events and that together with her husband personally welcomes the guests.
